The Undergraduate
This course is made up of a series of Videos of all the common skin conditions. It is available free to all medical Undergraduates who request access. You can register for access at www.studentskinconsult.com There are around 15 videos, each about 30 mins long , covering all of both the common and medically important conditions in dermatology.
The Membership
The Membership course is directed at General Practitioners particularly those in the country or city outskirts where ready and affordable access to a Specialist Dermatologist for their difficult skin cases is a problem. The Australian Institute of Dermatology has been helping in dermatology education by running this course since 2009. The course is run over 2 semesters of 14 weeks with 7 modules in each semester. There are weekly webinars where the module content is discussed, module assessments answered and cases that candidates have submitted to the virtual clinical meeting are diagnosed and treated. The Advanced Membership
To be eligible for the Advanced Course you have to have completed the Membership Course. The Advanced Course runs over 4 Semesters of 14 weeks each. It covers Advanced Dermatology, Dermatoscopy, Skin Cancer Medicine and Surgery, Dermatopathology and Cosmetic Dermatology in Semester 4. Advanced Membership Course Website
The Fellowship
The Fellowship of the Australian Institute of Dermatology is only open to candidates who have completed both the Membership and Advanced Membership courses. It involves another 6 months study of the topics covered in the Advanced Course but at a more sophisticated level. It again is primarily case based discussion followed by a live case based examination at the John Flynn Private Hospital on the Gold Coast covering each of the sub specialties in dermatology including some Cosmetic Dermatology. The Dermatopathology Courses
The Australian Institute of Dermatology offers a series of DermPath Courses tailored to the needs of different members. Specific courses are available to Membership, Advanced Membership and Fellowship candidates. There are also advanced DermPath courses for Specialist Pathologists, Dermatologists and their Trainees.
