We offer a wide range of courses in Dermatology and Dermatopathology.
WHY CHOOSE THE AUSTRALIAN INSTITUTE OF DERMATOLOGY?
The Australian Institute of Dermatology has been running online courses in Skin Diseases since 2008. These are personal development post graduate courses for medical professionals seeking to learn in detail about the many facets of skin disease including Medical Dermatology, Dermatoscopy, Derm Surgery, Dermatopathology and Cosmetic Dermatology. The Institute offers it’s Membership, Advanced Membership and Fellowship courses to General Practitioners who wish to become experienced in handling all facets of the specialty.
To practice as a Specialist Dermatologist under Medicare in Australia you have to have passed the examinations of the Australasian College of Dermatologists. Entry to the College is restricted in numbers due to the lack of available training positions. Many well qualified, enthusiastic people fail to gain a training position. If you want to practice like a Specialist Dermatologist you need to be trained like one. The Membership, Advanced Membership and Fellowship courses of the AID will give you that training. The AID also offers specific Dermatopathology courses to Specialist Pathologists who need to acquire knowledge of the clinical presentations of skin diseases and to Specialist Dermatologists who want to learn more Dermatopathology.
The sequence of our courses Membership, Advanced Membership and Fellowship have core knowledge delivered in the Membership Course, more advanced material such as dermatoscopy, dermatopathology, dermsurgery and cosmetic dermatology covered in the Advanced Membership Course and application of this knowledge to individual patient presentations in the Fellowship course. These courses generally run over two semesters of 14 weeks each, covering a full academic year’s study. The material is delivered online with weekly webinars for each course. Some courses have a live Weekend Workshop to start them off. These Workshops are held at the John Flynn Private Hospital on the Gold Coast , Queensland. They are web streamed for Overseas course participants. Full details of each course can be found in the Courses area of this website.
