The Advanced Membership Course
To be eligible for the Advanced Course you have to have completed the Membership Course. The Advanced Course runs over 4 Semesters of 14 weeks each.
It covers Advanced Dermatology, Dermatoscopy, Skin Cancer Medicine and Surgery, Dermatopathology and Cosmetic Dermatology in Semester 4.

Course Details
The Advanced Course is divide into 4 Semesters of 14 weeks each and is delivered over a two year period online.
You can view a short video outlining the course content and delivery below.
The course costs $1500 per year. This allows access to the course websites, webinars and video recordings and repeat access to the Membership webinars of the course held at that time. Candidates can also attend the Membership Weekend Workshop at no cost and submit cases for diagnostic help to the virtual clinical meeting site in the Advanced Course website. There will be an end of Semester examination. Candidates have to pass these examinations to be eligible to take the Fellowship of the Institute which will run in 2019.
It covers the more advanced aspects of Dermatology including Advanced Dermatology Medicine, Dermatoscopy, Derm Surgery, Dermatopathology and Cosmetic Medicine.
Modules
Module Topics are delivered over a two week cycle.
Week 1 is the Medical Module covering Advanced Dermatology Topics, Dermatoscopy, Dermatopathology and Medical Case Discussions.
Week 2 covers Derm Surgery, Dermatopathology and Surgical Case Discussions.
Subjects Covered
Semesters 1 and 2
We look at Advanced Dermatology concentrating on management of the rarer presentations of the common skin diseases eg Pustular and erythrodermic psoriasis, Psoriasis in pregnancy, Atopic dermatitis complicated by herpes virus infection etc. The medical week 1 module also looks at a couple of syndromes, a Dermatoscopy topic and some medical dermatopathology.
The Week 2 Surgical Module covers Flaps and Graft repairs for difficult skin cancers on the face and neck, Non surgical skin cancer treatments, Skin cancer dermatoscopy and dermatopathology and a case discussion of submitted images to the Virtual Clinical Meeting.
Semesters 3 and 4
Here the week one Medical Module has the same format as in Semesters 1 and 2 but the Week 2 Surgical Module looks at other areas such as lasers, photodynamic therapy and various types of Cosmetic treatments.

You look at the Preview Video. Then you look at the linked sites and peruse them. Then you view the longer Webinar video where bits of the topics are discussed. In the Monday night webinar I will present several cases that look at what you have been studying and answer some of the assessment questions I have listed below.
To get the most out of the webinar you should have looked at these assessment questions beforehand and sought out the answers!
Read Module 1A of MySkinConsult in www.myskinconsult.com on Introduction to Skin disease and Diagnosis. This is basically just revision of the mnemonics for diagnosis, skin structure and function and how to Approach a Case.
Read the Introduction and Colours in Dermatoscopy Sections in www.dermoscopymadesimple This is important especially the colours of melanin in various layers of the skin.
Also look at this AFP article on Dermatoscopy in routine practice
Look up the following conditions- Goltz syndrome, Aplasia cutis Just quickly look at these.
Look at this case and we will discuss it.
I will also do a critique of suggested treatments for Seborrhoeic Dermatitis.

The Semester 4 Program will be outlined shortly. We hope to commence around the 27th June. Registration for the webinars will be sent out to everyone beforehand. The Program is being planned below.
