The Fellowship Course
The Fellowship of the Australian Institute of Dermatology is only open to candidates who have completed both the Membership and Advanced Membership courses of the AID. It involves another 2 Semesters of study of complicated Dermatology Cases and some of the surgical and cosmetic topics covered in the Advanced Course but at a more sophisticated case based level.
The Fellowship Course is also open to Membership or Diploma holders of the AID who have passed the Advanced Certificate courses of the Skin Cancer College Australasia in Dermatoscopy and in Skin Cancer Medicine and Surgery or who have completed the Masters Course in Skin Cancer Medicine and Surgery at UQ .
The Fellowship website at www.aidfellowship.com will host case based discussions and a Virtual Clinical Meeting site .
The Fellowship Examination will be online after each Semester and will be a live exam. You will also be assessed on your case contributions to the Virtual Clinical Meeting site and participation in the weekly webinars and Module Assessment question answers.
The Fellowship course will allow successful candidates to practice Dermatology with a highly sophisticated level of expertise. However it does not allow you to practice as a Specialist Dermatologist under Medicare in Australia.

Fellowship Course Details
The Course involves another two semesters of study of the topics covered in the Advanced Course but at a more sophisticated level. It again is primarily case based discussion covering each of the sub specialties in dermatology including some Cosmetic Dermatology.
The cost is $2000
The cases selected for study will be the most common conditions referred to a Specialist Dermatologist. Candidates will be expected to diagnose , investigate and treat these cases at the knowledge level of a Specialist Dermatologist.

Subjects Covered in Fellowship
The Fellowship course will be case based. It will cover the more difficult clinical situations in dermatology practice in the fields of Advanced Dermatology, Pediatric Dermatology, Derm Surgery and Skin Cancer Management, Dermatopathology Clinico Path correlation and management of complications in Cosmetic Dermatology.
A case based approach most closely simulates what problems are likely to be faced if you are practicing dermatology at this level where many patients will be referred by less skilled practitioners.
Cosmetic Dermatology is becoming more and more a feature of modern dermatology practice. Various topics including fillers, botulinum toxin and lasers will be covered in the course.
Fellowship Course Requirements
Candidates have to have successfully completed both the Membership and Advanced Membership courses of the AID to be eligible to take the Fellowship Course and Examination.
Exceptions will be made for AID Membership or previous Diploma holders who have successfully completed the Advanced Certificates in Dermatoscopy and Skin Cancer Medicine and Surgery with the Skin Cancer College Australasia or the Masters course in Skin Cancer Medicine and Surgery with UQ to also have direct entry to the Fellowship course .
