Subjects Covered

The videos cover all the common skin diseases and rarer disorders where recognising the skin disease can help in the diagnosis of the underlying medical problem including the propensity to internal malignancy.

The above rash is due to a T cell lymphoma of the skin. In red non scaly rashes like this you usually need a skin biopsy to arrive at the correct diagnosis.

The Major areas covered in the Undergraduate course are as follows

You dont need to take a detailed history to diagnose a skin rash. However always ask what the patient has applied to the rash as topical steroids can change it significantly..
You basically want to assign the rash to a particular clinical grouping of red scaly, red nonscaly, pustular, vesicular/bullous or a rash with a funny shape, clour, textute or distribution..
There are video lectures on all the diseases in the mnemonic PMs PETAL mainly covering psoriasis, eczema and tinea..
Here the mnemonic CUL DVA EVIE covers all the common causes of this presentation..
II Infective or inflammatory where infective can be viral, bacterial or fungal and Inflammatory will be pustular psoriasis or a pustular drug eruption..

The Mnemonic for blistering/vesicular disorders is ICI – Infective, Contact dermatitis, Inflammatory or Immunological. These mnemonics can be viewed at www.ddderm.blogspot.com
